On Friday 15 December 2023, the Sibolga City Regional Government held a Coordination Meeting (Rakor) of the Sibolga City Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID), in the Nusantara I Hall of the Sibolga Mayor's Office. The meeting was attended by the relevant Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD), Bank Indonesia Sibolga, Sibolga City Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Sibolga Police and Sibolga Bulog. Coordination activities start at 10.30-12.10 WIB. The coordination meeting aims to evaluate the price increases that occurred in Sibolga City towards the end of the year. The coordination meeting also discussed coordination between stakeholders in controlling the prices of goods and services.
The event was opened by the Regional Secretary of Sibolga City, M Yusuf Batubara. On this occasion, Yusuf Batubara conveyed the importance of maintaining price stability at the end of the year so that the targets that had been set could be achieved. He also conveyed that especially commodities that make a big contribution to inflation in the city of Sibolga should be a serious concern for all parties.
The first presentation was delivered by the head of Sibolga City BPS, Sabar Alberto Harianja. Sabar explained the results of the latest inflation release in Sibolga City in November 2023. Sibolga City experienced deflation of 0.19% month to month (mtm) and 4.19% year on year (yoy). The biggest commodities contributing to deflation are teter fish, tuna/ambu-ambu fish, tomatoes, skipjack/scale fish and mackerel/gembolo fish. The decline in fish prices occurred due to the large supply of fish in Sibolga City. Meanwhile, cumulative inflation from January to November 2023 or year to date is currently 2.71%. In December 2022, Sibolga city inflation will be 1.44%. We all hope that this year's December inflation will not be as high as last year, so that the 3+1% target that has been set can be achieved.
The presentation from the Bank Indonesia Sibolga Representative was delivered by Jonataruli Sidabalok, Deputy Head of the Bank Indonesia Sibolga Representative Office. He said that volatile food commodities in Sibolga City tend to be stable. From the daily survey conducted by BI since early December, only shallot commodities are slowly increasing. The last presentation by the Sibolga Police was delivered by Inspector Donny Panca Simatupang, Head of Criminal Investigation Unit.
At the end of the meeting, the Sibolga City Regional Secretary hoped that Bulog could conduct a cheap market for rice commodities and ensure that supplies were maintained until the end of January 2024. In addition, the Sibolga Trade and Industry Service would regularly go to the market to monitor price developments.
