July 19, 2024 | Other Activities

In order to uphold their commitment to environmental care, BPS-Statistics of Sibolga conducted another beach cleaning activity at the Old Port Beach (Anggar) today (19/07). Unlike previous activities, this time the event was held in collaboration with the Sibolga City Information and Communication Office (Kominfo). This collaboration was initiated out of concern for the environment, especially to support the 31st National Family Day (Harganas) at the North Sumatra Province level, which will be held at Old Port Beach (Anggar) in Sibolga City from July 22-25, 2024.

The activity began with a joint prayer at the Sibolga City BPS courtyard, followed by a walk to Old Port Beach (Anggar). Welcoming remarks and words of encouragement were given by the Head of BPS-Statistics of Sibolga, Sabar Alberto Harianja, and the Secretary of Kominfo, Romatua Hasonangan Panjaitan, S.H, before the beach cleaning activity commenced. The BPS-Statistics of Sibolga and Kominfo teams were divided into 3 groups each. All employees from both BPS-Statistics of Sibolga and Kominfo showed enthusiasm in collecting plastic waste. The total weight of plastic waste collected today reached 32.4 kg. There was an increase in the amount of waste collected compared to previous activities, which can be attributed to the higher number of participants due to the collaboration between BPS-Statistics of Sibolga and Kominfo.

At the end of the event, Head of BPS-Statistics of Sibolga, Sabar, presented a simple appreciation gift to the team that collected the most waste. Additionally, he expressed hope that these environmental care activities would continue consistently and have a positive impact and influence on other government offices to join in.

Horas, Oii Dusanak.
