Abstract

CPI is one of the important economic indicators that can provide information on the development of prices of goods/services paid by consumers. The calculation of CPI is intended to determine changes in prices of a fixed group of goods/services that are generally consumed by the public. Changes in CPI over time describe the rate of increase (inflation) or decrease (deflation) of goods/services for daily household needs. The increase or decrease in the price of goods/services is closely related to the purchasing power of money owned by the public, especially those with a fixed income. The rate of change in CPI (inflation/deflation) that occurs, by itself reflects the purchasing power of money used by the public to meet daily needs. The higher the inflation, the lower the value of money and the lower its purchasing power.
